I am a bad, bad Jew. Why, you ask? I am a bad, bad Jews because I love Christmas carols. There. My dirty little secret is out in the open.Â
Don’t get me wrong! I certainly don’t love them for the lyrics!
 I love them because Christmas carols(and much of Western music for that matter)  are in the major key. Jewish music, particularly from eastern Europe, most often seems to be in the minor key.Â
The music just seems majestic and uplifting and is certainly appropriate for this dark time of the year. I only wish some clever composer could put Jewish lyrics to them and that way I could sing them all year long without guilt.
