I want to look at the action from a different perspective. Regular readers of Backseat Blogger will have noticed that I post lots of pics. I do that cuz a) It’s my blog and I’ll do what I want with it and b) a picture really and truly is often worth a thousand words.
That viewpoint is never more trenchant than when reading editorial cartoons. Editorial cartoonists are a special breed of artists. They’ve got to be able to distill a complex situation into pictoral terms; they’ve got to do it fast; and they(usually) have to be funny and/or sarcastic.
